Community-Wide Events

SOSA-WA hosts two community-wide events each year, inviting the submarine officer community to attend.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is SOSA’s much anticipated yearly social event designed to provide community-bonding and morale-building in the submarine officer community.

Silver & Gold Charity Auction

This event, typically held the first Saturday of March, includes an auction and dinner to help raise funds for the Dolphin Scholarship Fund (DSF), which provides scholarships for dependents of current and former submariners. A portion of the proceeds also benefit local charities that support the submarine community.

  • Planning for the 2027 Auction has begun! Meetings will start in September 2026.
  • The 2026 Auction benefited the following local charities that benefit the local submarine community:
    • Central Kitsap Food Bank
    • Gather Pax Mentis
    • Permission To Start Dreaming Foundation

Volunteer Opportunities

SOSA-WA gives back to the local community by donating time and people-power.

Wreaths Across America

SOSA-WA participated in Wreaths Across America on December 16, 2023. During Wreaths Across America, community members lay wreaths on the graves of veterans in December to remember their service and sacrifice.
SOSA-WA looks forward to participating in this event on a yearly basis.

Social Groups

Keep an eye on our events calendar for some fun social groups that expand SOSA fun beyond our weekday morning meetings!   • Book Club | Hosted by Meghan Deverill
    • Join us for a relaxed evening of books, conversation, drinks, and light snacks. Whether you’ve finished the book, just started it, or haven’t read it at all, you are still welcome to come socialize and join the discussion. Adults only.
  • SNO (Spouses Night Out) | Hosted by Stephanie McBurnett
    • Join us once a month as we explore local restaurants from Port Orchard to Kingston. It’s a great opportunity to get out, connect, and try somewhere new. Each attendee is responsible for their own bill. Adults only.
  • Coffee Catch Up | Hosted by Michaela Bull
    • Meet up once a month at a local café to catch up on everything happening within SOSA, connect with others, and explore some favorite local coffee spots. Perfect for anyone who missed the monthly meeting—or just wants an excuse for coffee. Each attendee pays for their own order.
  • Hiking Club | Hosted by Michaela Bull
    • Join us once a month for a local—or sometimes not-so-local—hike. It’s a fun way to explore the area, get outdoors, and spend time together. Children are welcome. A Discover Pass is recommended for some locations.
  • Patio Pours | Hosted by Bailey Thomas
    • Come enjoy a casual evening of themed beverages featuring both local and non-local adult drink selections. Bring a favorite drink to share or sample one of the monthly featured options. Children and spouses are welcome.

Special Tours

We have been fortunate enough to attend tours of TTF and make connections to what our sailors do all day (and sometimes all night). These are paid member only events. Please see the latest post on our upcoming tour(s)!
